Rock Heroes is a music rhythm game designed by Blake Kallas, developed by RoxxWare and published by 2K Games. It is the first game in the Rock Heroes series.
The game allows the player to simulate playing music using peripherals shaped like their real-life counterparts. These instruments include guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals. In the case of the instruments, the player must hit the correct notes in time with the notes that scroll down the screen to build up a multiplier and score. Vocals are designed to be karaoke-like, giving the player the lyrics and pitch indicators that show them what and how to sing. The soundtrack consists of 90 songs spanning six decades and several genres, and includes artists such as Black Sabbath, Rush and Avenged Sevenfold.

Story Mode[]
Rock Heroes features a story mode which allows the player to create a band and follow them on a journey to success. There are twelve chapters in total, each of which has a unique venue to go with it. Each chapter has a certain amount of songs tied to it, with early chapters having easier songs and late chapters having difficult songs. Depending on the instrument, or if the story is being played in a band, each chapter will have different songs due to song difficulty varying in each instrument. After completing a certain amount of songs, the player can play an encore, which will then unlock the next chapter. Playing songs will earn the player money, which can be used to purchase clothes and instruments to customize their characters.
The basic story is supported by cutscenes at the start and beginning of each chapter, showing the trials and tribulations the player's band goes through. These cutscenes are usually comical and over-the-top, with the characters only making small noises rather than having full voice acting.
